Our Curriculum

At Royal Family Academy High School, we run an integrated curriculum. It is an all-encompassing and balanced blend of the Biblical worldview, the Nigerian Education curriculum and Cambridge Checkpoint/IGCSE. At the Junior High level, the students have the opportunity to offer mandatory subjects, which cover the broad aspects of Sciences, Arts, Business and Entrepreneurship, Humanities, Mathematics, and Languages. In accordance with the identified goals of the Universal Education Policy of the Federal Ministry of Education Nigeria, our underlying philosophy of Junior Secondary Education is the provision of a holistic learning experience for the total child. Our students also have the opportunity to sit for the Cambridge checkpoint Examinations in Junior High Three, the preparation for which is carefully integrated into the regular school time table. At the senior high level, a total of twenty-three (23) subjects are available. Out of this number the Federal Ministry of Education mandates students to take five compulsorily. These are English Language, Mathematics, Civics Education, ICT and one trade subject. Depending on the career anticipations of each student, they may choose additional five subjects and finally, sit for nine subjects in their final examination at the end of Senior High Three. Being an attached British council centre, the school also concurrently runs the Cambridge IGCSE syllabus and prepares students who wish to sit for this examination within the school. As with the Junior High syllabus, the overall objective of the curriculum is a holistic preparation and equipping of students with life skills required for after school years Equally as important are co-curricular and extra-curricular and extra-curricular activities such as clubs and societies, excursions, sports, hands-on projects, community development initiatives and social support services like regular visits to orphanages and reach-out programmes to the less privileged.

Our curriculum is a blend of the Christian, Nigerian and foreign syllabi. Therefore, foreign as well as locally published books are combined and used to achieve stated objectives. An Inclusive approach to teaching, as well as leadership training is also employed to cater for all academically challenged learners.

The curriculum has also been constantly revamped to incorporate biblical principles with current topics and teaching trends. The subjects offered can be categorized into languages, mathematics, sciences, arts and vocational studies.
