Special Education Needs (SEND)
Royal Family Academy is committed to offering an inclusive curriculum to ensure the best possible holistic progress for all our learners no matter what their needs or abilities are. Our Special Needs Department also known as the “Discovery Centre” is a programme designed for pupils/students with challenges or disabilities that interfere with learning. The discovery centre provides advanced support that is not normally provided in our general educational curriculum.
Our wide range of approaches and services include speech and language development, autism management and strategies, I.E.P (Individualized Education Program) development, assessment and evaluation, parental support and counseling, occupational therapy, and daily living skill development. We also offer individualized learning, resource room, one-on-one support and learning aids. These programmes are tailored to address each child’s unique combination of needs. Adaptations are made to allow kids to meet age-appropriate educational goals. Our Discovery centre is licensed under NILD (National Institute for Learning Development) Educational Therapy. It is established to manage assumed underlying causes of learning disabilities rather than simply managing the symptoms. It aims at intervention just above the pupils/student’s level of functioning and raises expectation for performance. Pupils/students are trained to view themselves as competent, confident learners. The goal of NILD Educational Therapy is to help students develop tools for independent learning in the classroom and life. NILD is specifically to aid persons with moderate learning difficulties-such as difficulties with reading and writing.
